The emergency vehicle hybrid traffic control signal is a special type of beacon assembly that assigns the right-of-way to authorized emergency vehicles leaving their station.
Hybrid Emergency Vehicle Beacon
The Emergency Vehicle Hybrid Beacon (EVHB) can be installed where standard traffic signals may not be justified. The MUTCD code requires at least two emergency vehicle hybrid faces for each approach with one located over the roadway. For more specifics see MUTCD 2009 edition, Chapter 4G.
The signal sequencing used for the EVHB system is similar to the hybrid pedestrian/HAWK system. As with the pedestrian system, the beacons remain dark until activated. Upon activation by emergency personnel, the hybrid beacon progresses through the following sequence:
ELTEC offers a SOLAR POWERED EVHB system using our innovative Mikros EIC (ELTEC Intelligent Controller). Now, an off-the-grid, complete, ready to install, solar powered traffic controller is available to manage the sequence pattern of the hybrid beacon face. AC systems are also available.
